Water Baptism
| And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15 |
| He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:16 |
| |
- Baptism does now save us, for we are buried with him in baptism and rise walking in the newness of life by faith in the operation of God who raised Christ from the dead (Col. 2:12).
| |
- The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Pet. 3:21
- You must be water baptized to be saved or separated from the wrath of God to come.
This is the response to the gospel of the kingdom for this dispensation of grace, and part of the process of regeneration..
- Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:5
- Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Acts 2:41
| |
- You must have your body fully submerged under water. This is not a spiritual baptism, but a literal baptism to pattern the death of Jesus Christ. Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Ghost (spirit of God), but we are literally baptized by ministers in response to the gospel.
| |
- And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Matthew 3:16
| |
- You must be baptized calling on the name of Jesus, who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
| |
- Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
- But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:12
| |
| |
- Everyone must be baptized, there are no exceptions in this dispensation. (Acts 2:38-39)
| |
- Men & Women: But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Acts 8:12
- Sorcerers:
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:13

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:38
- Jews/Hebrews:
And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. Acts 18:8

for repentance:

- Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Acts 19:4
- When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:5
| |
- The Apostle Paul never discarded water baptism when he rebuked the Corinthian church for their division, which was based on who baptized them. Paul was baptized and did baptize several people (1 Cor. 1:14-16). His statement, "Christ sent me not to baptize," does not mean baptism isn't needful. Paul's statement was an affirmation that his ministry was not to gather men unto himself, but to point believers to Christ.
| |
- Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. 1 Cor. 1:15
| |
| |
- The baptism of water is not the baptism of the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit). Being water baptized is an individual response to the gospel, and evidence that an individual believes on the name of the Son of God. Being baptized or endued with the Holy Spirit is a seal that an individual is a member of the body of Christ, and has the rights and privileges as a son. Anyone partaking of the death of Christ has access to eternal life.

| |
- For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:13
| |
- Water baptism separates the believer from the family of Adam, and when he/she receives the Spirit of God, God approves that person as part of the family of God. (1 Cor. 6:17)
| |
- And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Matthew 3:16
- And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17
- For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Ro. 8:15
- And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Gal. 4:6
| |
- We put on Christ in baptism in his name. When a person is baptized into Jesus, he/she is separated from the world, and one with Christ in God. There is no more racial or ethnic distinction.
| |
- For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Gal. 3:27
- There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
| |

- The patriarchs were baptized unto Moses as God led them by cloud. (1 Cor. 10:2)
- Many believed the message of repentance and were baptized unto John (Acts 19:3-4)
| |
- Though there are various baptisms, there is only one baptism unto salvation and that is in the name of Jesus.
| |
- One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph. 4:5
- And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matt. 1:21
